Understanding IMTO
What is IMTO?
IMTO — International Mortuary Transport Operations Network — is a role-based web application and coordination network for national and international mortuary transfers. It links intake, awards, transport updates and recorded handovers. Appointed professional partners perform the transports.
FeaturesWho is IMTO for?
The two commercial entry paths serve funeral dispatch teams and coordination centres, and funeral service providers and transport partners. Institutions and bereaved families can request suitable access. Drivers receive access through their organisation.
Who it is forAccess and first use
Does the form create an app account?
No. It submits an access request for personal review. Administration provides accounts; unapproved accounts remain disabled. Public app sign-in is only for approved users.
Have access reviewedWhat should an access request contain?
Provide contact person, organisation, activity, countries or routes served and specific intended use. The requested role remains editable in the form. Do not submit case details or deceased persons’ data.
Have access reviewedWhy might the activation email say “reset your password”?
The existing access workflow uses a password-setting or reset email. For newly provided access, use it to set your own password. This does not replace approval: a disabled account remains disabled.
ProcessWhere do I start as a dispatcher?
Enter the case: add route, contacts, dates and special requirements. Operational case intake takes place in the app, not the public form.
ProcessWhy does a transport partner need a depot?
Bids and new trip starts refer to an actual site. Add a depot with its full address and select it at the intended step. No address is inferred from the company name.
ProcessDo drivers request independent commercial access?
No. Drivers are included through their organisation and assigned to operations. Commercial requests are for dispatch teams, funeral service providers and transport partners.
Who it is forAssignments and execution
Which transfers can be coordinated?
The app supports national, cross-border and military cases. Feasibility depends on route, capacity, documents and required approvals. The platform does not guarantee availability for every route.
FeaturesIs transport status automatic GPS tracking?
The workflows described here rely on recorded status updates and confirmations, such as pickup, delay or handover. This does not promise continuous automatic GPS tracking.
BenefitsCan an order be changed after award?
Certain client edits are locked after award. Instead, a correction request can be submitted. The participating partner can respond; responsible coordination handles the decision in the intended workflow.
ProcessDoes IMTO perform the transports itself?
IMTO operates the platform and coordination network. The appointed funeral service or transport partner performs the transport. Responsibilities and requirements are clarified for the individual assignment.
Who it is forFees by role
Who pays the network fee and when is it due?
Access requests, personal review and approval are free. Dispatch pays the assignment-based network fee for dispatch-managed orders; the client pays for a direct tender without dispatch. 50% is due at award and 50% after successful completion. This fee is not deducted from the transport partner’s bid price. The fee is tiered; the calculation belongs to the individual assignment, not a flat website price.
ProcessDocuments, records and responsibility
Does a document status replace checking originals?
No. The app supports recording receipt, processing and physical originals. Participants remain responsible for required checks and approvals. An app status is not automatic official authenticity confirmation.
FeaturesDoes every handover recipient need an app account?
Certain receipts use a separate handover link without an app account. It is only for the intended recipient and must not be shared publicly. Receipt confirmation is not general app access.
SecurityDoes changing language translate documents?
No. German, English, French, Italian and Spanish apply to the interface. Original documents retain their contents. The client arranges required translations after handover according to the recorded notice.
FeaturesWhich data must not go in the public form?
No case details, health data or deceased persons’ data. The form is only for contact and access review. After approval, operational details belong in the intended app workflow.
Have access reviewedDo all users see the same information?
No. Work views and editing rights differ by role, organisation and case assignment. Document views also account for status and intended visibility. Interface filtering is not equivalent to technical access restrictions on every individual document.
